Children of the Oratory

Every week, hundreds of village children gather to learn, to sing, to play — and to discover that they are loved and capable of great things.
They arrive in a rush of colour and noise — children of every age, kicking up dust as they run to the hall. Some come from homes where books are scarce and school is a long walk away. Here, for a few hours, they are simply children who are welcomed, taught, and cherished.
Our oratory and catechesis programmes blend learning with joy. There are lessons and stories, but also songs, drama on the community stage, and games in the courtyard. Faith is taught not as a rulebook but as a friendship — with God and with one another.
For children growing up in poverty, the message they most need to hear is a simple one: you matter. Through patient teaching and steady encouragement, our brothers and volunteers help each child believe in their own worth and their own future.
Many of the young leaders at our youth gatherings first arrived here as small children. The oratory plants seeds — and, year after year, those seeds grow.
