Provisions of Hope: Rations for Families in Need

Canossian Sons of Charity · Relief Work

Bags of rice, carefully packed and ready to carry. Each one is a promise to a family that this month, at least, there will be food on the table.

They sit in a neat row, ready to be carried out: sacks of rice and essential provisions, each one packed for a family who would otherwise go without. For households hit by illness, drought, or the loss of work, a single ration can be the difference between hunger and hope.

Our relief work is quiet and constant. When a family falls on hard times, word reaches our brothers, and provisions are prepared and delivered — often to the doorstep, so that no one has to choose between their dignity and their next meal.

We keep no long forms and ask no difficult questions. Need is enough. In times of crisis, this simple, direct help has kept many families going until they could stand on their own again.

Charity, we believe, is not a transaction but a relationship. Every bag of rice is delivered with a visit, a conversation, and the assurance that the family is seen, valued, and accompanied.
