Youth Fest: A Day of Unity, Prayer & Friendship
Canossian Sons of Charity · Youth Ministry
Hundreds of young people filled the hall — hands raised, voices lifted, hearts open. For one unforgettable day, faith and friendship were the only things on the agenda.
It began with music. Then the hall filled — young men and women from villages near and far, many of whom had travelled hours to be there. By mid-morning, hundreds stood together, hands joined and raised high, singing as one.
Our Youth Fest is more than an event. It is a chance for young people who often carry heavy responsibilities at home to simply be young — to play, to pray, to make friends, and to discover that they are capable of more than their circumstances suggest.
Throughout the day there were games and shared meals, quiet moments of prayer and loud moments of celebration. Older youth mentored the younger ones. Leaders emerged. Friendships formed that will outlast the festival by years.
The oratory tradition we inherit from the Canossian charism believes that every young person carries a light within them. Days like this one help that light grow brighter — and send them home not only fed and entertained, but strengthened in faith and belonging.
